As we continue to expand, we’re seeking a Director of Finance & Administration to play a key leadership role in shaping the company’s financial health, operational strategy, and organizational growth.

The Opportunity

The Director of Finance & Administration will oversee the financial, HR, and operational backbone of the company while working closely with the executive team on strategic growth initiatives. This role requires a balance of hands-on financial oversight, people leadership, and business acumen to ensure the business continues to scale responsibly and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Accounting

  • Supervise the accounting team.

  • Oversee all accounting and finance functions, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.

  • Approve supplier payments over $10K and review weekly cashflow forecasts, FX transfers, and commission payments.

  • Monitor accounts receivable, and support dispute resolution with customers and suppliers.

  • Review and approve payroll; oversee preparation and submission of T4s.

  • Manage and approve government remittances (Payroll Taxes, HST/QST, EHT, WSIB, corporate tax installments).

  • Support tax compliance and planning.

  • Develop internal financial controls, including vendor onboarding and bank account verification.

  • Build and maintain strong banking relationships, including negotiation of fees, interest, and FX.

HR & People Operations

  • Develop and oversee HR policies and job offers in compliance with ESA and common law.

  • Coordinate employee benefits programs (health spending account, external health plan, DPSP, parental leave, education/cell allowances).

  • Lead compensation and salary strategy reviews; review and approve termination packages.

  • Oversee recruitment for senior staff and support immigration/work permit processes (LMIA).

  • Supervise and mentor the Office Manager to ensure smooth daily operations.

Operations & Compliance

  • Review corporate leases, vendor agreements, and payroll software packages.

  • Oversee policies and management of crypto receipts and related financial controls.

  • Lead vendor management to ensure quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Coordinate participation in government assistance programs.

  • Act as Risk Officer for large-scale projects.

Strategic Growth & Business Development

  • Partner with leadership to develop growth strategy, including evaluating new products and services.

  • Lead acquisition target reviews and support integration planning.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with senior executives of customers, suppliers, and partners.

  • Collaborate with affiliated companies on policy and transaction support.

  • Establish and monitor KPIs to track performance across departments and projects.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in finance and operations, ideally with exposure to logistics, supply chain, or professional services.

  • CPA with operations focus and/or MBA with accounting/finance background.

  • Strong understanding of accounting, finance, HR, and operational best practices.

  • Proven experience in cash flow management, tax compliance, and financial controls.

  • Demonstrated leadership in HR policy development, recruitment, and compensation strategy.

  • Skilled in contract negotiation, risk management, and vendor relations.

  • Excellent relationship-building skills with external stakeholders, partners, and financial institutions.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing company.
